Why are these natural sounds of the body looked down upon? I understand if you are at some fantastically awesome celebration, gala, ceremony, etc and you are presenting an important speech, you don’t want your body to be a show boat and overshadow you. But if I’m just sipping down disgusting soda and let out a burp after dinner at a table only being shared by my aging parents, why is that wrong?

In fact, if you go over to someone’s dorm room and you are having a conversation with her roommate and you happen to fart, why hide it? Why blush as her two other roommates openly discuss bodily sounds, wondering whether it is acceptable or not in cultures across the globe to openly admit to a fart?

I say embrace your bodily sounds. Stand up and fart. Burp out the alphabet. Take back your body’s sounds.
